Peyton sunk into his chest and sighed as they closed the front door, the last of the trick-or-treater's walking down the driveway. Lucas lifted Peyton's chin to lay a kiss softly upon her lips just as the doorbell rang followed by a hard knock.
"Ignore them," Lucas suggested, but Peyton pulled away rolling her eyes as she grabbed the bowl of candy again.
"So, what little creatures do we-" she trailed off as she swung the door open.
The front porch was vacant. They glanced at each other oddly and shrugged.
"Must've been bedtime."
"Ohhh bedtime sounds nice!" Lucas joked grabbing Peyton by the hips and pulling her towards him again.
"Lucas Scott, you horny toad you!" she smacked her boyfriend as they walked together into the kitchen to put away the leftover candy.
Suddenly as the two began to clean everything up a loud rumbling of what sounded like an engine began to roar. The windows in the kitchen flew open as blinding headlights danced around the room.
"What's going on?!" Peyton cried as Lucas wrapped his arms around her shaking frame.
He said nothing only because the sound of a wicked chuckle could be heard almost as loud as the purr of the engine. Then it all stopped as soon as it began.
"Lucas . . ."
"Shh," he replied as they stood in the deathly silence.
"If this is a joke it's not funny!" Peyton yelled out the open windows ignoring her boyfriends request.
"Peyton!" Lucas glared at her as he looked around for anything he could use as a weapon.
Just then Peyton gasped as she peered down the hallway towards the front door.
"What? What is it?" Lucas asked as he followed her gaze.
"I know I shut and locked the front door!" she replied as tears began to fall down her cheeks.
"Who's there?!" Lucas called out as he tip-toed down the hallway.
Quickly, he made his way to the front door and looked around. No one. He stuck his head out of the door way and looked towards the empty road. Still no one. He felt his heart slow down and a small bit of relief begin to wash over him as he shut the front door.
"It must've been the wind or some little brats play-" Lucas said to Peyton, but as he turned around he knew something was wrong.
There stood a tall, blond man with the face of a monster and the eyes of a demon. He had long, pointed teeth that sat upon his lips as he smiled evilly from the kitchen. Holding Peyton with one hand around her waist and the other covering her mouth, he began to slowly lick the skin of her exposed neck.
"Stop that! Let her go!" Lucas yelled at him.
The monster began to laugh again. Peyton's eyes got wide with fear as she wiggled within his grasp. Lucas inched slowly towards him, but his demeanor went from mischievous to serious in a matter of seconds.
"Don't come any closer, pretty boy. The prom queen's mine!" and with that the crazy, blond demon bit into Peyton's neck leaving Lucas to stand there and watch his beautiful girlfriend die by the hands of a vicious vampire.
