Keeping It Real
Chapter 12: A New Beginning, A Happy Ending

The next day, Tuesday, had never felt so good in my life. As usual, Bob and I walked our way to school. It feels so good to have my best friend as my boyfriend now.

"So, Leigh," Bob asked me with a smile. "How does it feel to be my girl?"

"I feel so happy," I told him, smiling at him. I puckered a kiss on his lips.

"Hmm, me,too," Bob replied. "I'm so happy for both of us."

"Yeah," I said as we cuddled up together. "Anyway, I need to patch things up with my friends, too. They're in for a sure surprise."

"Oh," Bob just said.

Then, we reached the school grounds. People seem to look at us.

"Well, here we are," Bob replied. "Take care, Leigh."

"Yeah, you too," I told him as we parted ways.

"Hey, Liza!" I shouted.

"Hi, Leigh!" Liza replied. "Is this for real or what? Did I just see you and Bob together?"

"Yeah, finally, we've talked, we're more than best friends now," I told him breathlessly.

"Oh-wow! That's great!" Liza exclaimed. "Wait till the girls hear it."

"Liza!"

"Okay, okay, you tell them, ok?"

"Ok, and I'm sorry for what I just did yesterday," I apologized.

"That's nothing. I guess we guessed right, right? You guys are falling in love with each other and you just don't know it," Liza explained.

"Yeah, sort of, but thanks for understanding," I replied.

"Sure, no biggie," Liza just shrugged.

Just as then, we saw Carol, Michelle and Annie.

"Hey, you, guys, Leigh, has a good news for all of us," Liza said.

"Ok, this is gonna be good," Carol said.

"Ok, first of all, I'm sorry for what I just did yesterday," I apologized again.

"Oh, that's nothing," Michelle replied. "We're just being naughty. I guess we should give you some time."

"Skip the dish, go to the good news," Annie cutted in.

"Ok, ok, all right, Bob and I are a couple now," I suddenly replied.

"Wow!" The girls hugged me.

"Eeek!" Annie shrieked. "Wow! That's  great news! See I told you, guys, they're into each other."

"Yeah," Liza admitted. "Whose first idea is it, anyway?"

"Ok, yours," Annie chimed.

"Oh, guys, I just wanted to thank you for being there for me, ok?" I said.

"Ok, no problem," Carol said. "We're so happy for you. I hope this is for real."

"Yeah,"I told them nonchallantly. "Thanks."

"Anyway, the school prom is coming up, do you guys have dates?" Michelle asked. We all looked at each other. "Oh, yeah, Leigh has one... already." And we all laughed. Beats me. All's well, ends well.

2 months later. At the prom.

"Happy Anniversary, Leigh," Bob kissed me on the cheek as we slow danced. This time, the prom is memorable for both of us. Yeah, because  we're now celebrating our second month together as sweethearts.

"Happy Anniversary, Duke," I joked. He smiled.

"Are you happy?" he whispered in my ear.

"Yeah," I replied. "Thanks for the flowers." He sent me a bouquet of red roses earlier.

"You're welcome," Bob smiled. "You're very special to me."

"Bob?" I blushed. "Please?"
"Yeah!" Bob joked. "But not as my drumsticks!"

I laughed.

"Smile, for the camera!" the cameraman said. Bob and I looked, cheek to cheek.

Click!

"Perfect," the cameraman said.

Then, we danced again.

"Hey, look," Bob whispered again. I looked at the other side of the room. This time it didn't surprise me to see Annie and Ray dancing together.

"Yeah, they look nice as a couple, too?" I said with a smile. I feel happy for Ray. Finally, the girl he had been waiting for turned out to be Annie.

Annie turned her head to us and she blushed. I gave them a thumbs-up sign. Ray saw us and he smiled, too. Then, they continued dancing.

"But we look nicer together," Bob whispered in my ear. "Don't you agree?"

"I know that," I just laughed. Then, Bob kissed me a tender kiss on the lips. A sweet, soft kiss that sends tingles all over my body.

Well, it will be a month again before Bob will be leaving for another tour soon but for now, I'm focusing on this very special momentum of my life. (Sigh!) I kissed him back.
